Bonnieより

ボニーも素敵なキャンドルナイトを過ごしたようです!

We had a lovely evening December 22. It was cold and frosty. Archer and I had made a spiral of evergreen boughs on our front lawn. I had made 16 star ice candle holders and put them in the spiral. We put candles in each candle holder and lit the center candle.

We started with a verse.

Deep Mid-Winter drawing near,
Darkness in our garden here —
One small flame yet bravely burns
To show a path which ever turns.

Earth, please bear us as we go,
Seeking light to send a-glow:
Branches green and moss and fern,
Mark our path to trace each turn.
Brother animals, teach us too
To serve with patience as you do.

We walk with candle toward the Light
While Earth awaits with hope so bright:
In the light which finds new birth
Love may spread o’er all the Earth.

Deep Mid-Winter drawing near —
May Light arise in our garden here.

One at a time each child (for the younger children one of the parents would help with this) carried a candle and walked to the center lit candle. He would light the candle that he was holding from the center candle and walk out the spiral to the next unlit candle. After lighting this next unlit candle he would blow out the candle he was holding. The he would walk out the spiral and pass the unlit candle to the next child. Gradually the spiral became lit with more and more star candles. I was very inspired!

Here are some photos. The third photo is actually Becca holding the candle. Everett is in the baby carrier and you can’t see much of Becca’s face.

Best wishes and Happy New Year
